Release time:2020-07-02 17:32:05      Number of hits:317

(1) Used as chromium-containing raw materials for the production of metallic chromium by electrolysis;

(2) Used as a raw material for smelting stainless steel by oxygen blowing.

(3) Used as an additive for cast iron to improve the wear resistance and hardness of cast iron, and at the same time make cast iron have good heat resistance;

(4) Used as an alloying agent for ball steel, tool steel and high-speed steel with high carbon content to improve the hardenability of steel and increase the wear resistance and hardness of steel;

(5) Used as chromium-containing raw materials for the production of silicon-chromium alloys and medium, low, and micro-carbon ferrochromium by slag-free method;

Although it has a wide range of uses, there are three main smelting processes:

(1) Electric furnace method for smelting high-carbon ferrochrome: The basic principle is to reduce the oxides of chromium and iron in chromium ore with carbon. The starting temperature of carbon reduction of chromium oxide to produce Cr2C2 is 1373K, the starting temperature of the reaction to form Cr7C3 is 1403K, and the reaction starting temperature of reduction to chromium is 1523K, so when carbon reduces chromium ore, chromium carbides are obtained instead of metallic chromium. . The carbon content in ferrochrome depends on the reaction temperature.

(2) Oxygen blowing low-carbon ferrochrome: The equipment used in the oxygen blowing method to refine low-carbon ferrochrome is a converter, so it is called the converter method. According to different oxygen supply modes, oxygen blowing can be divided into four types: side blowing, top blowing, bottom blowing and top and bottom blowing. What our country uses is the top blowing converter method. The oxygen blowing method is to blow oxygen directly into the liquid high-carbon ferrochrome to decarburize to obtain low-carbon ferrochrome.

(3) Smelting low-carbon ferrochrome by electro-silicothermic method: The smelting of low-carbon ferrochrome by electro-silicothermic method is carried out in a fixed three-phase electric arc furnace. Self-baking electricity* can be used, and the furnace lining is made of magnesia bricks. of. The short life of furnace lining is an important problem in the production of low-carbon ferrochrome. Due to the higher smelting temperature, the life of the furnace lining is generally longer.
